

By bus


The bus stop right beside the lower entrance to paddock mound is owned by the Parish, and a beautiful mural depicting scenes from the site was created in 2018 by Fran O’Boyle, funded by the Parish and the Friends. You can find us on Route 4 – in fact you can’t miss us when traveling west from Oakengates towards Wellington, it’s the stop just before Ketley Community Centre and TACT – the old schools. Travelling east we’re between two stops; The White Lion and Shepherds Lane.
By Train – Oakengates Railway Station, on the Shrewsbury – Birmingham Line is in walking distance. Trains stop here hourly. There is a more frequent service to Wellington Station. Both stations are close to the bus stations where you can catch the no.4 Bus.
By Car – Paddock Mound is located on the main road – B5061 between Wellington and Oakengates. Close to Junction 6 of the M54. There are four main entrances, The nearest to a car park is on the Holyhead Road – B5061. The car park is beside TACT – the Community Centre overspill car park beside the old Infant School. From here you can walk along the pavement on the Holyhead Road to the Bus Stop – see above.

If you walk from the car park or Ketley Community Centre, through and around the site, you can return from Red Lees and along School Lane.
If you wish to drop walkers off near the top, Main entrance on Shepherds Lane, you can stop at the top of Castle View.
