In summer 2019, the Shropshire Wildlife Trust offered to undertake a small project for Paddock Mound as part of a Live Well with Nature scheme https://www.shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/live-well-nature. See more details of each site waymarked, by clicking on the image captions above.
We decided that waymarkers, with QR codes linking to information and history about the area around each point of interest would be a good addition, and complement the waymarkers recently placed as part of Telford 50 50 trail.
The 2018 Telford T50 50 Mile Trail goes through the major open spaces in Telford. It links together parks, woods, pools, nature reserves and open countryside with the World Heritage Site of the Severn Gorge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and the many new and historic towns and villages that make up Telford. https://www.telfordt5050miletrail.org.uk/
This Telford 5050 waymarker post in Paddock Mound is at the bottom of the Glade steps, leading from the ancient Red Lees path to the top of the mound.
It was used during January in lockdown, to support bird food made by children who have loved visiting the site and sharing photographs on facebook during their enforced time away from schoolfriends.
